How to draw simple plate


In this autocad tutorial we will sketch this simple L plate.

1. Open a new drawing. Click New autocad-tutorial-ex1-new
2. Make sure Ortho mode is ON, (it ON when it glow in blue)

click the icon to turn it ON or OFF. (or press F8 to toggle)
3. Type z [Space bar], e [Space bar]. This will zoom extents your drawing area.
4. Activate line command. Click LINE. autocad-tutorial-ex1-line
5. Specify first point of the line at 0,0. Type 0,0 [Enter].

6. Move your cursor to right side and type 8 [Enter].

7. Move your cursor up side and type 4 [Enter].

8. Move your cursor to left side and type 4 [Enter].

9. Move your cursor up side and type 4 [Enter].

10. Move your cursor to left side and type 4 [Enter].

11. To close the sketch loop type c [Space bar].

Your sketch should look like this;

To confirm input command you can key press [Space bar] or [Enter].
